Photoderm
The
Photoderm is an innovative machine which emits a very strong, brief flash
of non-coherant light. The technology is extremely flexible which permits
us to determine the intensity of treatment for every condition presented.
There are three different modes, VL, PL, HR, for treating a variety of
conditions.
Photoderm
VL (Vascular Lesions) Therapy
Usually effective for the following conditions:
- Spider
or Thread Veins on the face or body
- Telangiectasia
- Broken Veins
- Port
Wine Stains
- "Liver"
or "Campbell de Morgan" spots
- Acne
Rosacea - Facial Skin disorder resulting from chronic inflammation of
the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead and eyelids demonstrated by red discoloration
and sometimes acne like eruptions
- Most
types of superficial vascular lesions
Treatment
is most effective on patients who are not tanned or have a light skin
tone. The photoderm light passes through the skin which acts as a window
and is absorbed as heat energy by the small blood vessels which are then
destroyed. The vessels initially appear worse with marked discoloration
which fades between 2 -14 days and gradually they disappear.
Photoderm should destroy approximately 50% of the veins treated during
each visit. It does not cause more veins to develop. It may be necessary
to try several different settings to tailor a level for each patient.
A particular vein may not always disappear on the first treatment and
may need treating again.
Photoderm PL (Pigmented Lesion) Therapy
Usually effective for the following conditions:
- Age
Spots
- Lentigo
- Sun Spots
- Seborrhoeic
Keratoses - Benign skin lesions resulting from excessive growth of the
top layer of skin cells
- Haemosiderin
Pigmentation - Dark Staining of the skin usually arising with varicose
vein problems
Initially
the treated areas become darker and flake off during the course of one
to two weeks.
Photoderm
HR (Hair Removal) Epilight
The Epilight is used for long term hair removal and has been shown
to be more effective than the pulsed dye Ruby Laser. The
light travels down the hair follicle to the bulb which is destroyed by
the heat created. Complete clearance requires several treatments as the
hairs are only susceptible at certain stages of growth. The darker the
hair the better the results and white hair will not respond to treatment.
The treatment should not be applied to tanned skin.
